— On 2018-2021 Ertigas with the 4-speed AT, check for delayed engagement when shifting from Park to Drive (more than 2 seconds is a red flag). Also test on an incline — if the car rolls back significantly before the gearbox catches, the torque converter may be worn. AT gearbox overhaul or replacement is extremely expensive. Drive the car in city traffic for at least 15-20 minutes to feel for harsh shifts or slipping.

— White or blue smoke on cold start that persists for more than 30 seconds indicates worn valve stem seals or piston ring wear. Common on high-mileage Ertigas (80,000+ km) that were not regularly serviced. Blue smoke means oil is burning in the combustion chamber. This is an engine overhaul territory problem — walk away.
