On 14 October 2026 Toyota Kirloskar Motor launched the 2026 Glanza facelift at Rs. 6.99 Lakh ex-showroom, about Rs. 26,000 more than the Rs. 6.73 Lakh the outgoing car started at. The headline is not the price. It is what sits under the bonnet. The smooth 1.2-litre four-cylinder K12 engine that every Glanza and Baleno has used since 2019 has been retired in favour of a new three-cylinder Z-Series unit, and the top trim now carries Level 2 driver assistance. When a facelift changes the engine, the used market does something specific: for a few months the old engine is a selling point, and then it is just old. If you own one of the roughly six model years of four-cylinder Glanza or Baleno, this article is about getting out in the first phase rather than the second.

What Toyota Launched on 14 October

The 2026 Glanza comes in five trims. The petrol manual prices at launch, as reported by 91wheels, Times Drive and Autocar India, are E at Rs. 6.99 Lakh, S at Rs. 7.71 Lakh, G at Rs. 8.73 Lakh, V at Rs. 9.99 Lakh and V (O) at Rs. 10.49 Lakh, all ex-showroom. The base E is manual only. Autocar India's fuller variant table adds the five-speed AMT at Rs. 8.31 Lakh for the S, rising to Rs. 10.98 Lakh for the V (O), and CNG on the S and G trims: Rs. 8.76 Lakh and Rs. 9.68 Lakh with the manual, Rs. 9.31 Lakh and Rs. 10.23 Lakh with the AMT. The CNG-AMT pairing is new to the Glanza. Bookings are open at Rs. 11,000 and deliveries are reported to begin in the first week of November.

The Glanza is, as it has always been, the Maruti Baleno with a Toyota badge and a different grille. The Baleno received the same engine swap and the same Level 2 ADAS suite when its own facelift went on sale on 5 September 2026 from Rs. 6.10 Lakh; our earlier piece on what the 2026 Baleno facelift means for used Baleno resale covers that launch in detail. The Glanza launch matters because it completes the pair. From this month there is no new premium hatch from either brand with the four-cylinder engine, and both twins now carry a Rs. 6-7 Lakh starting price with a feature list the older cars cannot match.

On the numbers: the figures above are launch prices reported in the days after 14 October, and some outlets described them as introductory. Toyota revises Glanza prices periodically, so treat the AMT and CNG figures as the published list at the time of writing and check the dealer quote before you use them in a negotiation.

Why an Engine Swap Creates a Short Seller Window

Most facelifts change bumpers and screens. Buyers of the old car shrug, because the car underneath is the same. An engine change is different. It splits the model into two populations that the used market prices separately, and the split moves through two phases.

Phase one: the old engine is a feature

The K12 four-cylinder has a reputation in India for smooth idling, low vibration and a long service history across Swift, Dzire, Baleno and Glanza. A three-cylinder, whatever its efficiency gains, idles with a different character, and a set of buyers will want to avoid it on principle. In the first months after a swap these buyers cannot get the engine they want from a showroom, so they go to the used market and pay for a clean, low-mileage example. The same pattern played out with other models when manufacturers moved from four cylinders to three; the older engine briefly commanded a preference premium. That is where the Glanza and Baleno are right now, and it is the reason a 2024 or 2025 four-cylinder car can still be priced with confidence.

Phase two: the old car is repriced against the new one

The preference premium does not last. Once deliveries begin in November, the new Glanza becomes the reference point on every buyer's phone. A Rs. 6.99 Lakh new car with a warranty, a modern touchscreen, TPMS, and on the top trim a Level 2 ADAS suite, sets a ceiling on what anyone will pay for a three-year-old car without those things. At the same time, exchange stock arrives: owners who upgrade to the new Glanza hand in their old ones, and those cars flood dealer lots within weeks. More supply, a lower ceiling, and the old engine's novelty gone. The market reprices, and it reprices downward.

The calendar makes the timing unusually clear. Dussehra is today, Dhanteras is on 6 November and Diwali on 8 November 2026. A used-car marketplace's forecast reported by Business Standard on 12 October expects festive used-car demand to be up 12-15% this season, with prices broadly flat. Our note on festive used-car demand and why sellers should list before Dhanteras walks through that forecast. Put the two together and the window is the next three weeks: demand is high, four-cylinder buyers are still paying for the engine, and new-car deliveries have not yet started to feed exchange stock into the market.

What waiting costs: there is no precise number for how much an outgoing model loses once its replacement is in showrooms, because it varies by city and condition. What is consistent is the direction. A seller who lists in late October competes with other private sellers; a seller who lists in December competes with dealer exchange stock priced to move and a new car that starts at Rs. 6.99 Lakh. The second position is weaker.

List your four-cylinder Glanza or Baleno before Diwali

Rs. 99 for a listing built from your RC record. Buyers see the manufacture year, registration date and variant as the national registry holds them.

New Glanza Trim Money Versus the Used Market

Buyers with a budget for a new Glanza trim will, from now on, weigh the same money against a used four-cylinder car. The table below sets each new petrol manual trim price against the kind of used Glanza or Baleno that money has typically bought on private listings. The used column is illustrative, not a price guide; condition, kilometres, city and the number of owners move the figure a lot, and you should check live used Baleno listings for your city before you fix a number.

New Glanza trim (petrol MT)Ex-showroom priceWhat the same money typically buys used (illustrative)
ERs. 6.99 LakhA 2023-2024 Glanza or Baleno mid-to-top trim, four-cylinder, low kilometres, first owner
SRs. 7.71 LakhA 2024-2025 top-trim Glanza V or Baleno Alpha with the AMT, four-cylinder
GRs. 8.73 LakhA near-new 2025 Glanza V (O) or Baleno Alpha (O) AMT, or a step up into a used compact SUV
VRs. 9.99 LakhA two-to-three-year-old compact SUV or a late-model premium hatch from a rival brand with a long warranty balance
V (O)Rs. 10.49 LakhThe only new Glanza with Level 2 ADAS; the used market has no four-cylinder Glanza with ADAS to offer against it

Two things stand out. First, the seller of a 2024-2025 top-trim car is selling into the E and S price band of the new car, which is where most new Glanza buyers shop. That buyer is weighing a smaller, newer car on a warranty against a bigger-spec, older car with the engine they may prefer. The seller's job is to make that trade-off obvious. Second, the V (O) buyer is not the used seller's customer at all; nobody wanting ADAS is cross-shopping a 2022 Baleno. Price for the E and S buyer, and say so in the listing.

Four Steps Before You List

  1. Fix the price against the new car, not against last year's listings. Start from the new Glanza trim that matches yours, subtract for age and kilometres, and then add back a modest amount for the four-cylinder engine while that preference lasts. A price set from July listings will look high next to a Rs. 6.99 Lakh showroom car; a price set from the showroom car will look fair.
  2. Gather the documents. RC, insurance, PUC, the service book, both keys and the loan closure or NOC if the car was financed. Our tip on the documents to have ready before selling a car has the full list. A buyer who wants the four-cylinder engine specifically is usually a careful buyer; they will ask for the service record and the hypothecation status in the first conversation.
  3. List verified, so the year and variant come from the record. A verified listing on VahanBazaar.in costs Rs. 99 and is built by looking up your registration number in the VAHAN database. The manufacture month and year, registration date, fuel type and variant are drawn from the record. In a facelift transition, that detail does the selling: a buyer can see that a car is a 2025-built four-cylinder before they call, and does not have to take your word for it.
  4. Handle test drives on your terms. Daytime, a route you choose, a photo of the buyer's licence before they drive, and never a solo test drive with your car and your keys. The festive weeks bring more enquiries and more time-wasters; a short screening call before each test drive saves both.

Manufacture year versus registration year: in a model changeover this distinction matters more than usual. A car built in late 2025 and registered in early 2026 is still a four-cylinder pre-facelift car, but a buyer searching by registration year may assume it is the new model and feel misled on inspection. The VAHAN record carries both dates, and a verified listing shows them. Lead with the manufacture year in your description and say plainly that it is the four-cylinder K12 car. The buyers you want are the ones looking for exactly that.

For Buyers: a Discounted Late-2025 Four-Cylinder Is a Good Buy

The other side of this trade is attractive. If you prefer the four-cylinder engine, or simply want a well-equipped premium hatch for less than Rs. 6.99 Lakh, a 2024 or late-2025 Glanza or Baleno is a sensible purchase right now, and it gets more sensible as the repricing phase sets in. Hatchbacks make up about a third of India's used-car market, and the Baleno and Glanza twins are among the most common cars in that segment, so there is depth to choose from. The checks are the usual ones, with one extra. Confirm the manufacture year and the variant against the RC record rather than the seller's description, check that the car is not under hypothecation or that the NOC exists, and confirm the owner count. An RC check on the registration number costs Rs. 99 and returns the registry's own copy of all of that; the full report at Rs. 149 adds the pending challans. Run it before the token advance, not after.

Where you buy matters a little. In large metros with heavy Baleno and Glanza populations, such as Bengaluru, the supply of exchange stock will arrive fastest once new-car deliveries begin, so prices there may soften first. A buyer who can wait until December may get a better price; a buyer who wants a specific low-kilometre car should not assume it will still be there.

What This Means for Glanza and Baleno Sellers

The 2026 Glanza facelift is a good car at a fair price, and that is exactly the problem for the one in your driveway. From 14 October the reference point for a premium hatch moved to a Rs. 6.99 Lakh car with a new engine, a tyre-pressure monitor, ventilated seats and, at the top, driver assistance the old car will never get. For a few weeks the old engine still sells itself to the buyers who want it, festive demand is forecast to rise 12-15%, and the exchange stock has not landed. After Diwali all three of those turn against the seller. Price against the new car, list with the year and variant drawn from the record, and sell into the window rather than after it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of the 2026 Toyota Glanza facelift?+

The 2026 Glanza facelift launched on 14 October 2026 at Rs. 6.99 Lakh ex-showroom for the base E manual. The petrol manual trims are E Rs. 6.99 Lakh, S Rs. 7.71 Lakh, G Rs. 8.73 Lakh, V Rs. 9.99 Lakh and V (O) Rs. 10.49 Lakh. AMT and CNG versions cost more; Autocar India lists the top V (O) AMT at Rs. 10.98 Lakh and the S CNG manual at Rs. 8.76 Lakh. Prices vary by fuel and transmission and may change after the introductory period.

Is the old 4-cylinder Glanza better than the new 3-cylinder one?+

Different, not simply better. The outgoing 1.2-litre K12 four-cylinder is known for smooth, quiet running and a long service record in India. The new three-cylinder Z-Series makes a little less power on paper at 83 hp and 112 Nm, per Autocar India, but is tuned for better fuel economy and brings Level 2 ADAS on the top trim. Some buyers specifically want the four-cylinder and will pay for a clean example in the first months after the switch; that preference fades as the new car becomes common.

When is the best time to sell my 2019-2025 Glanza or Baleno?+

Between now and Diwali on 8 November 2026 is the clearest window. Deliveries of the new Glanza begin in the first week of November, festive used-car demand is forecast to rise 12-15% this season, and buyers who want the proven four-cylinder engine are still paying a premium for it. Once new-car exchange stock reaches dealer lots and the Rs. 6.99 Lakh car with ADAS becomes the reference point, the outgoing model is repriced against it.

Does a verified listing show the buyer my car's year and variant?+

Yes. A verified listing on VahanBazaar.in costs Rs. 99 and is built from the registration record on your number in the VAHAN database. The manufacturing month and year, the registration date, the fuel type and the variant description are drawn from the record rather than typed by hand, so a buyer can see at a glance that a car is the four-cylinder pre-facelift model and whether it was built in 2025 or registered later.
